Self Treatment Cure for Periodontal Disease

Having recently experienced a swollen gum, and not having several hundred dollars available for a dentist, I decided to do a little research on the subject.

Apparently Periodontal Disease is a pretty scary thing. On the positive side you can lose you teeth and the jaw bone can disintegrate.On the negative side you can have a stroke or heart attack. Great! To top that off, it is very difficult to cure and extremely costly.

The two most common causes are smoking (if you smoke you have to stop), and sugar. I brush, floss and water pick like a fool, but sugar is a formidable adversary no matter what you do.

I searched through hundreds of pages promoting miracle mouthwash, toothpaste, sprays, surgery and lasers. None of which I can afford. Nor do I heartily believe. Laser surgery, probably, but I'm about $2999.00 short of the $3000 it can cost. Am I doomed to die? Hopefully not as I finally stumbled upon this website that made some sense (to me).

I wanted to share it with those of you that are in the same position I'm in. (Scary disease, no money=certain death).

According to the author this treatment is recommended by the American Academy of Periodontology, but rarely implemented as it's not considered very profitable.

It consists of ordering some strong antibiotics that are effective on the gums and bone. The article says not all antibiotics can treat these areas. Using the medicines and some other ingredients found in the household, aggressive periodontal disease can be healed. Woo Hoo!

I have the household ingredients, but how do you get medicine without a prescription? Apparently this is pretty easy. I ordered them (link provided below). They were pretty cheap ($40). The problem is they are coming from a third world country, so I am picturing a Pack Mule being involved, maybe some sort of small vessel up a steam or two, a crowded bus that breaks down, you get the picture. I don't expect them to arrive any time soon. So in the meantime, I am using what I have on hand that was mentioned in the treatment guide.

The household stuff seems to be helping, so for the time being, if I don't die from using this strange concoction of stuff, I will let you know how it turns out once I get the antibiotics.

I wanted to share this information on Periodontal Disease as it was kind of buried in between all the ads for more expensive products and procedures. I was feeling, without dental insurance or a butt load of money my options were pretty limited.

The pills arrived in about a week and a half, so I'm pretty happy with the Camel convoy.

In the meantime, a couple of people recommended using Charcoal capsules. I did a little research and it seems they are quite effective on abscesses and cavities (good to know).

I went to my local drug store and they wanted $20, (too much for my sad budget). Then I went to a health food store and found them for $6.00.

You open the capsule, make a paste and apply to the desired area. The Charcoal is odorless, tasteless and looks really attractive when applied (NOT!). I am serious when I say this stuff has magical powers! By the time I received my medication, I forgot where it hurt.

I'm not advising anyone to avoid the dentist. I'm just sharing some methods I found to utilize in the meantime.
